Lure coursing
Lure coursing imitates the hunt in open country: sighthounds chase a lure that moves along a zigzag course.
How it works
The course is laid out on a field or meadow, usually 500 to 1000 metres long. The lure (usually a bundle of plastic strips) runs along a line pulled by a motor. Dogs run in pairs wearing coloured blankets, and each dog runs the course twice.
Scoring
Two judges score five qualities: speed, agility, enthusiasm, follow and endurance. Points from both runs are added up.
Who can enter
Sighthounds with a valid licence who are at least 15 months old (example, check the current FCI and national rules).
